Maniac302 Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 When looking at a map of Arnhem, I noticed that there appeared to be 3 tracks on sp 13, yet my board only shows one. Is it possible to send more than one train into sp 13 at a time?
signalsoftRC Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 There are more tracks there and you can send more than one vehicle to track 13... but space is (was) very limited! so watch out! And you can't send a loco and start shunting/switching around... it was a bicycle platform, but if that was used, only a loco could stand at the buffer end of track 13.
Maniac302 Posted April 15, 2010 Author Posted April 15, 2010 How do I send multiple locos in there? I tried sending a second loco in, but he stopped short of entering.
signalsoftRC Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 if the first loco had a turnaround order given by you/from the database, it will stop straight after the signal, not leaving space for a 2nd one. Hence the 2nd loco not fitting in it... if you're unsure where a loco is on that track: don't send another train there! (like in real life!)
Maniac302 Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 So, if I want to send more than one loco in there, I have to give them the turnaround order when I want them to leave?
signalsoftRC Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 a driver who is sent into a dead end track WITHOUT a turn around order, will go to the end of the track and turn around but WAIT until the signal clears again. (he gives a turn around order all by himself) A driver who is sent into a dead end track with a turn around order, will stop immediately behind the signal and turn around and wait until the signal clears. (this is all by design)
amollen Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Just to make sure I understand: if you send him WITHOUT a turn-around, he will wait at the END of the track? So in the case of sp 13, there should be room for another locomotive?
signalsoftRC Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 the length is about 35 metres... and your loco's easily an 18 metres... you can do another loc 600 in it... but 2 full elocos is pretty filling up. so you better don't... nasty, eh?
Maniac302 Posted April 17, 2010 Author Posted April 17, 2010 I wish we could see and control all three tracks. How do the computer drivers decide which track to go on?
signalsoftRC Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 The dispatcher couldn't see the tracks and he couldn't control it either... The corner there was rarely used besides of stabling a loco... very rusty rails. (hence the double line representation) Post T Arnhem does not have the functionality to "shunt/switch around". That's a huge chunk of work. Only from Hengelo we have that functionality that a train can be send into a "local operation area" and do a complete scenario of shunting/switching around.
Maniac302 Posted April 18, 2010 Author Posted April 18, 2010 So, what, the simulator behaves like there's only one track there?
signalsoftRC Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 there ARE more tracks, though you can't get there at the moment. It's an absolute minor corner there... not worth to delay a product for two to three months. As it is that much work to implement a feature that is not really needed. If you like 100% simulation, you would have to pay 100x more.. And we decided to deliver 99.99% simulation. sorry about that :-) If you pay me 5000$ I'm happy to include it for you in Arnhem. There's much more to discover and other fun stuff in Arnhem that totally compensates for this missing 0.01% of a simulation. Hengelo simulation has it fully included with a Local Operation Area and switch locks where trains do really interesting things for switching/shunting around. But you as a dispatcher are "passive" in that way that you "give away" the local operation area and you only can watch the trains moving in the area.
Maniac302 Posted April 19, 2010 Author Posted April 19, 2010 Oh well. Yes, I do want a 100% simulation, as I can't do it in real life, but I don't have $5000 dollars to spend on a whim. Even with so many things done right in Arnhem, I can't help but notice the little things. It's my nature, I'm a perfectionist. (It really hurts when I screw up sometimes. )
signalsoftRC Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 well... we're two of one kind then! I'm a perfectionist too... one of the reasons Hengelo is "later than expected". But there are some physical limits to "being perfect". I wish I could do much more... but simply can't afford it... over time it will come :-)
Maniac302 Posted April 20, 2010 Author Posted April 20, 2010 Meh, I've got Arnhem to keep me busy. Besides, I'd rather wait for a product to be done better, than have it now, unfinished.
signalsoftRC Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 You'll be kept even more busy with Hengelo. I'm sure you like that one... lots of ways to keep you busy actually ;-)
