Ghost train

Featured Replies

I seem to have a ghost train blocking the track. The occupation light just east of switch 91, as shown in the picture, is lit. The tracks are aligned with sp 27, so it would seem that it doesn't fit in the siding.

But, I moved the train on sp27 off it, and then back on but the light stays lit. It can't be one of the other two trains in the berg, the tracks aren't aligned with the sidings.

What's going on?

it's a track circuit defect. This can happen sometimes. the track indicates "occupied" but isn't. Well... just don't assume such a thing. Unless you're trazillion % sure there's no train. You can go OVER a defect track circuit by setting a route with restricted speed (running on sight, button turned down).

You can NOT: unlock the switches, throw the switches, unlock that part of the route.... until you've called in a technician.

The other way can be true too: the lamp on the panel is burned out. The track IS occupied, but the light on the panel is broken. (nasty one!)

The system doesn't tell you the defect... and it's not dangerous or so... you just have to pay attention! :-)

The reason I posted it here, was because I couldn't send a train over it with restricted speed. I couldn't send a train period.

any route you set over it must be in the same direction of course as the last movement. (because the switches/points lock their directionality as well).

A wrong track occupation is a nasty defect. But with track circuits it belongs to the "things of life" of train dispatchers. In real life only a technician can help you (as in the simulation). He can recalibrate the track circuit relay.

Sometimes putting a train over it might solve the issue too.

Until that unexpected track occupation is solved, you're pretty well stuck and need to work around it.
