Another idea regarding telephones

Featured Replies

Some questions/wishlist about telephone conversations:

- Is it possible to make the telephone conversations not actually quitting after you receive an answer but instead have a kind of "more questions" option? It would be nice if you call a technician about a malfunctioning rail-crossing and a malfunctioning signal and report them both in one call or give a train driver a permission to pass a red signal and a permission to pass a crossing. (as I understand it the only possibility to do this now is to place one call for each option).

- Another idea is to be able to give drivers instructions (pass signal, pass crossing, etc) when he calls you about him waiting at a stop signal.

- Is it possible to make a function to go back to previous question options (if you pushed the wrong option) without need of ending the call? An example would be if you call the technician about a malfunctioning switch and manage to click on the option of reporting a malfunctioning circuit. The only way to report that switch right now is to hang up and call again.

I hope you understand what I mean.

yes, I fully get what you mean. Though that "going back" or "adding another option" to a call is quite difficult to make.

In order to make a call, the sim needs to collect a whole bunch of data, sometime really different data about the "environment' the driver/sim is in. Those data collections are done while you're in the call (for the techies: it's a insanely complex state machine). Stepping back in a situation is very difficult to make (undoing set variables/approvals etc...)

We've seriously thought about all this, but considered it out-of-scope at the moment. There are some situations where we created it, especially where it's handy to use.

So yes, you have to do "discrete actions" within a call.

Now that being said, the times you really need to place calls directly after each other is very minimal. (by own experience), so it's not a huge UI issue.

Oh, I didn't knew that it was so hard to implement. I have many malfunctions on my routes so that's why it is a problem sometimes especially when every part of the question has a delay. Maybe it's possible to make the choosing faster for example you call a technician click the report stop signal option, then directly (without the "i want to report a malfunctioning signal" conversation delay) pick the signal and then have an actual "Hi, i want to report a malfunctioning signal A1" dialog. It would speed up the conversation and be (I think) more realistic. I hope you understand my idea.
