.mdb files

Featured Replies

Hi,

When I registered the simulations I downloaded updates and new data. I see in my download folder a zip file with a .mdb file extension and I'm wondering what the file is for and how/when to use it.

Thank you in advance

Lukas

The mdb file, which is an MS Access database, contains the latest timetable for the simulation.

Normally the latest timetable is built-in in the simulation, but sometimes it is not possible to update the simulation (for any kind of technical reasons) but timetable can be updated.

Therefor, the timetable is distributed as a separated file as well, so that you can always play the simulation with the most up-to-date timetable (if wanted)

A second benefit: if you have MS Access, this timetable mdb-file allows you to modify or create your own timetable

To use the external timetable go to Settings and click on "Simulation" root item : there you can set if you want to apply the external timetable

Refer to this page (in German) for some pictures : SignalWiki - Images how to set External timetable

One more question. If I use the Project Rhinegold mdb file, is there any timetable pdf files for it?

Lukas

You can generate them yourselves if they are not there

Start the sim with the -x option , see Wiki SignalWiki - Command Line Options for details.

This gives you an extra menu option called Dev. There you will find an option to output the timetable.

You will need a "PDF printer" though, like PDF Creator (there are many other tools to Print to PDF though)

Ok, thank you Erwin I will do so. Also, what does the "A" and "V" letter before the track number mean? I think "A" is an announcement of incoming train that is not yet on any of the locations but I'm not sure.

"A" fields are indeed field in which your neighbouring dispatcher offers his train on a certain track. And, where you offer a train to your neighbour.

Please read the ZNP801 article in the Wiki on how to do this.

"V" fields are so-called Vormelder fields. These fields indicates the first next train that your neighbour will send, as result of how he has set his routes on his panel.

Thank you Richard, I missed that. It's quite a lot information in the wiki. Sorry for bothering you.

Thank you for your answer Erwin, it was right there in the wiki, but your info clarified it a little bit more.

How does the offering work? Should I always offer the train to my neighbor even if the track is a double track or should I only offer trains to a single track route?

Single track : always

Double line: if you send a train via the track that is normally used into the other direction. (so left hand running). Or, when the direction of the track is set against you.

Ok, then I was acting correctly. The complicity of this simulation makes it very addictive. Thank you very much.
