Electric train stranded on unelectrified rail

Okay, so I screwed up big time. During a hectic moment with lots of things happening, I sent 1483 down the wrong track. Now it's stuck there with no electricity. I tried to send a helper locomotive to couple to it's tail end and pull it back onto electrified rail, but the helper I sent, a 2200, won't couple with it. I am aware that it might be the wrong type of locomotive to couple with this train, but I couldn't find any explanation of the difference between a 600, 1200 and 2200 locomotive anywhere in the documentation, so I just picked one, and had it sent to me from tractie.

Now what?

If 1483 is a Mat'46, then it has another type of coupler (Scharfenberg) than the 600, 1200 and 2200 (buffers and hook). Try asking Tractie for a 600+coupler car.

I suspected as much. It would have been nice to be able to find that information in the supplied documentation before I chose which locomotive type to request. Well, I sent a loc 600+ helper, and it won't couple either. I've got an even more serious problem now; I've got a late train stuck on the jessel, the 258 end button refuses to let me set a route to it, even though there is nothing on the track, resulting in the route to and from Zv being completely blocked.

Do you by any means play with irregularities on?

Is it possible to post a screenshot of how the situation looks on the panel.

And what about setting a route from the bridge towards 288 -> 256, so lefthand-running. Or is that track occupied?

Setting a route from the bridge over the IJssel towards 258 normally shouldn't be any problem.

Did you try setting a drive on sight route towards 258 as well? Is switch 295 locked or forced into the position towards sig 288?

Was the coupler car on the correct side of the loco? If I recall correctly they come out of Tractie2 with the coupler car to the west. So if the stranded train is on the track between switch 255 and switch 295, you need to go around it and reverse on the bridge. Then you can couple on the east side of the stranded train and push it back.

I had the locomotive turn around, so the coupler would be on the right hand side, so it wouldn't have to go past the train and reverse to connect. As you can see in the picture, it's still not coupling.

One time, I had an issue with the interlocking system getting stuck, still thinking there was a train on sp y, with switches 255 and 259 permanently locked; I tried resetting the power, I then tried sending a train over sp y to unstick it, but I couldn't send any train over any of the affected switches. Ever since then, I've turned the mechanical failures (irregularities) setting completely off.

In the picture I've linked, I was able to send the train on the bridge to signal 288, but not 258. Once the train on the bridge was at 288, I was able to send the trains waiting at 252 to signal 294, and on to Zv.

I found a website to upload the saves to, so you can take a look at the issue yourselves.

Save #1 is just after I realized my mistake. I "screwed up". Save 2 is just before the image was taken.

I managed to get a route towards 258 by setting a Drive On sight route. So turn the start button of 298 down and set the route.

Somehow you got in the situation that the panel believes an route in the opposite direction was set.

But prior to doing the above I needed to set a Drive-On-Sight route from 250 towards 294. Revoke it just quick, before the signal 250 'clears' otherwise you'll need a while before switches get released again.

I tried to rescue that stranded train as well, but no luck so far.

With respect to the stranded train:

- Give the 600loc + Helper an order to turn around at Arnhem-Velperpoort at any track

- Let it move back to either Velperpoort station (Ahp) or even Arnhem-Eastside

- Prepare and send the following two movement orders once it arrives there:

1. Turnaround at Arnhem-Velperpoort on any track or Arnhem-Eastside on any track (depending on where you send the 600loc+helper)

2. Couple with 1483 at Arnhem-Velperpoort on any track and go leftwards (so towards Arnhem)

- Only set a route towards the stranded train after the new Movement orders have been received by the 600 Helper train

This should work.

I assume things have gone wrong as follows, so correct me if I am wrong:

You first sent the 600 Helper towards the stranded train, and just then you submitted the order to couple.

If that is correct, then well, another lesson learned: trains won't move again once stopped and facing other trains
