Unable to send orders over track phone

Nearly half a dozen times now, when I can't get ahold of a driver over a signal phone, I try to give him his new orders over a track phone, but all I can say is "Oops, I've called the wrong person, sorry." Why can't I give orders over a track phone?

mmmm... it would mean that at the very moment the answer you can give is created (the buttons appear), there are no new orders or the train is moving. (you can only give orders to a moving train, if it has radio... and in the Arnhem sim is no radio.)

1: I check the train information window to see if the train is stopped.

2: How would I be able to get ahold of a driver on a moving train over a stationary phone?

The simulation is situated in 1965.

There is not such thing as radio or GSM.

If the train is moving, there is no possibility to reach the driver.

So, first off all you have to stop the train at a red signal.

Then if you are lucky, the driver goes to the phone at the side ot the track.

Or you can try to phone that phone and hope that the driver goes to the phone.

That's good enough. But the question is: where did it stop? Normally it should be stopped near the signal showing a Stop aspect.

So as Hobbyman says, you should only be able to reach the driver via the telephone next to the signal, not somewhere else like a track-side phone.

(If I remember well, the dispatcher can only contact or be contacted via the trackside phones, other then signal ones, by maintenance personel)

Could you tell if it is actually the train driver of the train you are trying to reach, to get a better picture of this?

Don't confuse reality with the world of simulation :)

In other words, if you would be able to do so in the simulation, you would be facing a bug.

BTW: any luck with your issues with respect to rescuing the stranded train?

For the issue in question, I use the track phone to contact the driver of a train when he's stopped behind another train on the same track, and won't answer the signal phone after several tries. When I do get ahold of him on the signal phone it's "Here train **** on track ***." My only available response, even though I have the prepared movement orders ready is "Sorry, I must have called the wrong person." I then have to either wait for the train in front to clear that section of track, or wait for the yard master to deliver the orders.

This was the case with the loco I sent to help the stranded train, but because I had it uncouple then recoulpe, the coupling orders I had originally given it were lost, and I didn't realise that until it was on the track with the stranded train. I couldn't get ahold of it on either signal phone, but I could on the track phone; that phone wouldn't let me give him his new orders.

As for rescuing the stranded train, I gave up after 5 retries, between operation without sufficient information and dealing with the simulations quirks, I just didn't want to go at it again, and loaded a previous save. I read that someone else had used my save and rescued it, that's good enough for me at this point.

That was me :)

Too bad you didn't give it a try with the directions I gave you on that matter, but that's your freedom of choice
