signalsoftRC Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Gelsenkirchen update is about to happen. the only main outstanding thing is the line operations with Essen Hbf and Essen-Altenessen Note that Gelsenkirchen Hbf is now a S600 box with a control monitor. (The number entry goes via a little DOS-Like screen) And that with a pile of new commands to enter: Here you can read a bit about it already. pblanksb Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 S600 sounds very different, and I've only really just got comfortable with SP Dr S60 and S59 panels :-) From this and the answers posted in another thread it sounds like we have some very interesting sims to look forward to in the future. It's already on the wiki for Düsseldorf-Gerresheim panel. The operation of Gelsenkirchen Hbf will be significantly different. Of course you can press the buttons on the panel as usual. But there will be a new Control Monitor to operate the panel (in stead of the number entry system)
pblanksb Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I prefer to set routes using the actual panel buttons so I have never familiarised myself with route-setting using the number entry system, but now that Gelsenkirchen is going to be revised with a monitor-based route-setting system I may teach myself how to set routes with number-entry on the older panels. I'm glad that route-setting by buttons will still be possible though. Regards, Phil.
signalsoftRC Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 The buttons on the panel are sort of "fall back" system in case the monitor or number entry system fails. The monitor and number entry system are only set up above the actual interlocking system and not so really reliable made as the panel buttons. (why should they, eh?) On a computer you have it easy.... but in real you have to stand up and walk to the panel... But we didn't want to build in that delay :-)

Oberhausen is delayed due to a data entry bug in teh layout. (we've to shift a part) therefore I continued with some other layout: Heidelberg Hbf... soon... Other sims close to be finished: Bonn-Beuel (Sp Dr S 600) Keep a close eye on the forum... and your mailboxes...

Because there are not needed there: Direction right to left (P-signals) : - you can not set routes from P5II or P8 towards P5I, so for all exit signals there common distant signals behind switch 21 resp. switch 39. Those are the distant signals for routes towards the left - Route from P1 to P35 is not possible either. P35 must have (and has) distant as this one does not "share" the distant mentionned before. P1 will be at "Kennlicht" when route is set from F toward P35; P35 will be at Kennlicht when route set from P1 towards exit track, distant on p35 will show aspect Direction left to right (N-signals): - distant signals for the next signal (only right track) are all on track 97, so no need for distants at N-signals either One thing confuses me though, and that is the presence of the distant signal repeater light for those "shared" distants for traffic to the left (Kirchain). I do not understand why that light is there. That would suggest that there would be preceeding distant signals (i.e. at N-signals), so maybe that's why you ask? Erwin

Thanks for your aid Diego You should not ask questions about a small town (Marbach) on a large panel (Fulda) in a topic about Essen-Altenessen ... LOL You had confused me, as I know you love small panels, I thought you were talking about Marburg, not Marbach ... ok I am back to earth now. Let me see. I think the main reason is the fact that Marbach and Götzenhof are Dr S 2 systems, so very limited representation of local items. (well that's my guess) Special operations for route setting apply in those two stations, when it comes to setting routes into the side tracks. i.e. You have to throw switches yourself.
