Catenary Earthing Not Cancelled

Recommended Posts

I granted an overhead line earthing to the engineers between Roisdorf and Bonn Hbf but after nearly an hour they still haven't called to re-energise the OHLE. In Settings I have Engineering Works set to almost minimum so these isolations normally last only a few minutes. I have never had one last for an hour. Has anyone else had this happen at Bonn Hbf?

Hi Phil,

the maximum duration of engineering works is 60 minutes. You can choose this in expert options between 5 and 60 minutes. In Settings you only choose, how often works will happen during the day.

With "Q" you can display the schedule of engineering works. There you can see at what time what kind of work will happen and how long. When the work is in progress the entry is marked with a red background line. So if you cannot see any works in red there is none.

Sometimes there are some problems with these works, especially when you continue a saved simulation. E.g.: A work is scheduled for 7.05 a.m., the next at 9.32 a.m. When the work at 7.05 a.m. is finished by the call of the engineers, the work at 9.32 a.m. suddenly disappears. But at 11.00 a.m. the engineers ask you for granting this work . If you do so, it may be that the system doesn't work correctly and deletes this issue. So you think works are in progress, but there is none.

So, when starting a simulation you should look up the time schedule for engineering works with "Q" and write them down. If you the grant a work you can be sure that it is over, when the scheduled time is reached and you have no red marking in the display for the works even if the engineers haven't called back.

Hi Helmut,

Many thanks for your very detailed and informative reply.

I looked in the schedule of engineering works window and the catenary earthing was not listed at all. I also didn't realise there was an expert option to select the works duration.

I manually save my sims regularly in new sim files (every 30 minutes on average) so I that if something happens that I can't get out of I can go back just a short time in a previous save and run the sim again to try and either recreate an issue I had, or to signal trains better to avoid getting everything in a mess, so I'll go back to a previous save and see what happens, and also run this latest saved file and try to run a train through the affected area to see if there is still a catenary isolation in place.

Thanks again Helmut, you've been a big help.

Hi again Helmut.

Unfortunately I have not had any success.

I called Roisdorf and allowed trains to resume running on track Roisdorf - Bonn Hbf (Gl.049 and 902) but Roisdorf continues to offer and send trains over track Bonn Hbf - Roisdorf (922 and 050), so I cannot see if the earthing is still in place.

Hi Phil,

the system has set all waiting trains in Roisdorf already to go the way over track Bonn Hbf - Roisdorf. The first rain coming from Cologne to Roisdorf after your call should be leaded on the correct track. To shorten this you can cancel all waiting trains in Roisdorf in the train overview.

Ok thanks Helmut. I will be patient and run those trains over Bonn Hbf - Roisdorf.

My life has now been made harder by a track circuit failure on Bonn Hbf - Roisdorf so I have trains stopped waiting for the technician to arrive! This is turning into just the sort of thing that happens in the real world!

Many thanks Helmut.

Regards,

Phil.
