ZLA_JB Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I've been playing Hengelo as well as Arnhem for a few weeks now. It seems that trains have arrival times that are rather strict. In Arnhem trains are scheduled to arrive on track 3 at say...1033, the train will have just struck on to the Panel, it barely arrives in time for the departure. In Hengelo the 7000 and 7900 trains seem to always be losing time. For example 7936 lost 1 minute into Borne then a further 2 minutes at Amri for a total of 3 minutes before reaching Almelo. Using the DOOR buttons instead of STOP doesn't seem to do much in the way of time saving. The same problem exist at Wierden where trains running under clear signals don't seem to arrive in time to meet the schedule. Even the few that arrive in time with the Stop button activated the train stands in the platform a minute or so before the signal will clear leaving them a minute or two late. Have I done something wrong? P.S: Long Station Dwelling is off.
arc Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 A delay of just 3 minutes from Hengelo to Almelo seems to be an exception. Most of the time it's 4 minutes. The timetable was just too tight - and the trains were too slow. In Wierden, I usually find that the times are too long generally, rather than too short. Most trains only take 2 or 3 minutes to get from Almelo to Wierden.
signalsoftRC Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 The times were taken from the original timetable and INDEED the times are extremely tight or even impossible. On the line Almelo-Hengelo certainly and more or less done on purpose. As only times in whole minutes can be published. If it's 11:45 and 50 seconds as official departure time, 11:45 is published... at departure the train is one minute late... Later on it's route it has some spare time (up to 6%) to catch up. Also some miscalculations at the real railway happened. Misplanning is a better word. If you plan high acceleration rolling stock and later in the process they only give you lower acceleration trains... you're stuck... This is also what happened there. No worries.. you won't be punished for running a train late ;-) this is all normal.
ZLA_JB Posted December 15, 2010 Author Posted December 15, 2010 Ah thank you I was starting to feel guilty about the whole thing. I try to compensate on the platform displays say the 1018 is running 6 behind I will change the board to 1024. However it seems my effort isn't reward! Oh well, 'tis a thankless job.
signalsoftRC Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 YES! being a train dispatcher IS a thankless job! they only call you to complain about your work... never if you do something good!
