I have a problem. for the first time this evening i tried to couple car with shunt loco. Now i go to the beginning.

I have a train named 4 42125 with loco BR151 and 20 Eaos. Train arrives in Track 005. Pheraps i 'm wrong in command sequence. I can uncouple (for example last 10 cars) but what number i must assign to this 10 cars if i want to start train with lok and others 10 cars for Weissentrum. My intention is to couple this 10 Eaos with shunt loco 290 and to put cars in 008 tracks. But is impossible for me to couple lok 290 with this 10 Cars. If i want to shunt my cars on Andernach tracks why i'm obliged to give train number when i couple shunt lok with cars ?

Thanks for reply

Diego,

the only reason why you have to give any consist a number is for the sim to indentify them.

Anyway, just give both set of cars a unique ID, like 10000w for part 1 (10 cars) and the consist that has to continue elsewhere (does it keep its loco) another ID.

For the shunt loc 290, you have to give this one an order to couple with 10000w (the 10 cars) as well as direction after coupling and its new train number.

This train number can be any number, as long as its not a number used by another train already using this number. Otherwise you would also get the timetable for that train assigned.

Hope this helps

Glad you got it sorted.

I just realised that there could have been a situation that the above trick would not have worked.

That is when the loco and the cars would have had different coupler types. In that case you would have needed a coupler car to get the loco and the cars coupled.

Fortunately, that is not the case here, otherwise finding the cause for not willing to couple would have been like searching for the needle in the haystack

Yes. In this case do you know the meaning of numbers (1 2 3 4) that are indicated in timetable file as a column in vehicles coupling type ?

For example ICE trains (401.....) have number 3. If i well remember ICE has an automatic coupling (Pheraps a Scharfenberg coupler and 1 is used for Traditional buffer-and-chain coupler

Correct.

In the table Vehicles you have the field 'VehicleCoupleType' where the coupling type for each vehicle is defined:

0 = UIC coupler

1 = Automatic Coupler High

2 = Automatic Coupler Low

4 = compatible with all (coupler car)

5 = ?? [have to ask Richard about this one; in the Amsterdam Timetable database this value is used for Ballast Machine and Stop Machine; maybe chain coupler]

Thanks ! i will study this numbers so to apply them in next future to my shunting works on simulations i like more

Good night. Now i go bed

Hi Diego

I just got an update on this. It seems to be a slightly different, see below:

NoCoupler = -1,

General = 0 : coupler is compatible with all (coupler car)

UIC = 1 : standard UIC chain and buffers

AutomaticHigh = 2 : automatic coupler type high

AutomaticLow = 3 : automatic coupler type low

AutomaticDB = 4 : automatic coupler type Bundesbahn (for VT605)

At the moment, any value other than -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 is automatically interpreted as "NoCoupler".

Thanks. as i said it seems to me that 3 was number for ICE and now with your update is ok !
