Non-overlap routes doesn't work?

After playing the Rheingold bundle and Marburg I thought I knew what I was doing.

Trying out Gelsenkirchen and I can't seem to set routes without overlap even though there are buttons that looks just like it on the panel.

Also tried setting it with the number entry utility without success. Is this a bug/replica of real life issues or me doing something wrong?

Also. The wiki page mentions a MGT button but my panel doesn't look like the Sp DR600 in the wiki and I don't have a MGT button.

Is there anyway to set shunting 002->003 and then a train route to 621 or will I have to shunt my trains all the way up to 621?

regards,

Alexander

If you set a route towards a platform track, there will always be an overlap route for safety measures. How long these overlap routes are depends on the situation at the station and the allowed speed of the incoming train. On some panels, a short overlap route is represented by the last yellow element on the track close before the signal. But mostly the overlap is shown by lighting elements behind the signal. If you have additional buttons for an overlap route, they can stand for a longer/shorter route or a route in a different direction like it is in Gelsenkirchen Hbf.

The group button panels differ from signal box to signal box and only show those buttons that are needed. A MGT button is not neccessary for Gelsenkirchen Hbf because there are no two signals in succession at the end of a platform track with a switch between them. Look e.g. in the Wiki of Köln Hbf to see this situation for platform tracks 1 and 2.

You can set directly the route from track 002 towards track 621. It works by clicking on the buttons on the panel (red button of signal 002R1) and by using the number entry panel. If you first set a shunt route to track 003, you have to let the train stop in front of signal P003 and the set the train route to 621.

By the way, as far as I know there is no Sp Dr S600 version of Gelsenkirchen Hbf. This is planned as a future update. The current version should be 3.5.0.37. That is a Sp Dr S60 panel. There are two Wikis for Gelsenkirchen Hbf available. You should choose the older one (Sp Dr S 60).

Thanks for a quick reply Helmut! :)

Regarding the overlaps:

Okey, I've gotten used to Bonn Hbfs  extremly short overlaps :)

But in Gelsenkrichen pressing (R731 and N007) or (R731 and overlap button next to N007) will produce the exact same overlap. Same with platform 4 and 5. The extra button next to the signal does not seem to do anything else than the signal button.

Regarding train route from P003. Even if the train is at a stand still I will get an error message saying "P003->104 Middle switch not in appropriate position / MGT button not pressed".

So I guess the only way is to shunt all the way to 104?

Yes, you're right. that is a bug. The second button behind the signal is for a shorter overlap route without blocking switches behind the exit signal. It's already a long time that I've played Gelsenkirchen Hbf because with the last update to the current version some bugs have sneaked in. This seems to be one of them.

I'm surprised because I don't remember that I've ever had tio use the MGT button. But you're right again. Switch 035 is a middle switch. The exit siganl P003 only works normal if this switch shows a route straight forward on track 003. You will find the MGT button on the number entry panel. You have to extend the window upwards to see it. Then enter 003621+MGT+ZT1-->+ATK. That will work. I've tried it just before.

Aha! That's where the MGT button was hiding. Sneaky! I was looking on the panel since it was there on the (for me) wrong wiki page.

Now they can leave the station as trains, not as shunts. Feels so much better for my OCD!

Thanks a lot Helmut! :)
