intallonabile Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 as i had some problems with my pc, my router and internet connection (ADSL) in last days i was not able to use lineops function and so only working stand alone with 1 simulation and not more. i have a question for Signalsoft team. Do you consider possible to link simulations each other without an internet connection ? Is too difficult or there are others problems ? Thanks for reply Diego
KobaiasoftSupport Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Yes this is possible. The relevant manual page is here. The general procedure is as follows: 1. (From the start screen) Line Operations > Start New Line Operations. Choose the Begin Expert tab. 2. Press Query IP Address 3. Your LAN address will usually be something like 192.168.0.123. If you only want to connect to simulations on your own computer (if you have many computer monitors) then you can of course use the loopback address (127.0.0.1). 3. Once you've selected your IP address, and your port numbers are correct, press Copy Code to Clipboard. This code you will give to the neighbour connecting to you. 4. Press Start. Let the sim start completely before doing anything else. 5. To join the simulation you just started, start run the application for that neighbour. (If you started Remagen, you'll want to start Bonn-Bad Godesberg, for example.) 6. (From the start screen) Line Operations > Join Existing Line Operations (Expert). 7. Port numbers here must be different! If they are the same as the first (already running) simulation, you must change them. 8. Query your IP address, and then press Start. If you've configured everything properly, the sims will connect. It's a little more work to do it the expert way, but for some people it allows them to do some unusual connections.
TjoeTjoe Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Diego, Charlie's explanation on how to connect multiple simulations on a private network should be clear enough. However, it must be emphasized that the LineOps application can NOT be used in such setup. In other words, the LineOps application can only be used for connecting multiple simulations in Easy Mode, via the Signalsoft server. Erwin
intallonabile Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 very thanks first for Charlie and his kindly reply to my question and also at Erwin. Ok, i'm happy even if i cant use Lineops Viewer. With Freeform tile observer i have create a syntetic layout for neighbours stations and i appreciate very much that is possible to open freeform tile observer even if specific simulation referred is closed (window is closed) So i open for example Andernach as main station and with fleeting signals at brohl and Weissenthurm, but freeform tile observer for each oh these is open and so i have the way to know what happen in others stellwerke Diego
intallonabile Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 sorry for my english. I speak English as a Cow !!
Bahn-Michel Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Sorry for me falling in here, but what is this "Freeform tile observer"? I haven't come across this name so far.
TjoeTjoe Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Sorry for me falling in here, but what is this "Freeform tile observer"? I haven't come across this name so far. Click right on a tile on the panel, and you can choose to add the tile to either the "Add to Observer" or "Add to freeform Observer". Your choice decides of course in which type of Observer windows you wish to place the selected tile(s). The (Freeform) Observer window allows you to select/watch/operate specific tiles of the panel. Mainly used to have quick overview on the panel on specific sections The Observer windows can be selected from the Menu option View -> (Freeform) Tile Observer Edit: In the Observer window click right-mouse-button to change size of tiles, remove a specific tile etc Erwin Note: And noted that this beautiful help tool is nowhere described in the Wiki. Let me put it on the to-do list once the server migration has been completed
Bahn-Michel Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Oh yes, thank you Erwin, so this is the "Freie Tischfeldbeobachtung" in German. Now I know it of course. Good idea with the Wiki.
TjoeTjoe Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Oh yes, thank you Erwin, so this is the "Freie Tischfeldbeobachtung" in German. Now I know it of course. Good idea with the Wiki. Correct. As I was not sure if German is your native language I obmitted the German translations (Freie Tischfeldbeobachtung) on purpose. By the way, the right-mouse-button is a magic tool in many windows/parts of the simulation. And yes, I do realise that the Wiki pages require a kind of rework, as there are many functions which can be accessed via the right-mouse-button in specific windows which are unfortunately not described/documented yet. My to-do-list is long and still growing Erwin
KobaiasoftSupport Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 I've added a short article to the wiki about the tile observers.
TjoeTjoe Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Thanks for that Charlie I will copy and translate those pages to the Dutch and German section in near future Erwin
