Train 64238 at Remagen

Train 64238 arrives on Remagen Track 007 at 1420 and detaches loco RAbt 64239, leaving wagons w64238.

RAbt 64239 driver then calls to say he is ready but there are no movement orders to specify what this loco should do next.

Can anybody help please?

Hi Phil,

this train (64238, only Wednesday) has loaded petrol for the small petrol station in track 121. There you will find the empty wagons that the same train has left one week before.

Your task is to change the empty with the full wagons. The loco RAbt 64239 is forseen to bring the empty wagons back to Koblenz as train 64239 starting on track 006.

It is your decision where you place the new (full wagons) and the loco RAbt 64239 between times. For the shunting movements you have a little loco "Köf" on track 112 which is to activate before. As you are free how to deal with this task there are no prepared movement orders. You have to write it on your own.

Is it possible to open the 1996 and 2012 Rheingold timetables as a pdf to maybe see what instructions for the trains are written down, and if so where are they located? When I click in the link to the timetable in 'Help' I think it only takes me to the original timetable that came with the sim.

Hi Phil,

you can create a pdf of the current timetable on your own. It's the same procedure as for Wuppertal: http://www.signalsoft.info/forum/index.php?showtopic=2255&page=1#entry15745

Before you run the sim you have to make sure that the correct timetable is connected to the programme. You can do this with every sim.

But for the trains 64238 and 64239 you will find no instructions there. It's up to you how to deal with it.

If you are not able to create your own pdf, you can ask Tjoe Tjoe to do it for you and provide it with his downloads.

I looked at the procedure you explained to me for Wuppertal but I canot find an 'Information' button anywhere.

Also, how do you get a driver onto a loco that does not have one, eg Kof322?

Hi Phil,

if you start the programme by clicking the shortcut button on your desktop you will see the start window of the programme with a picture of the signal box..

There you should have the buttons

• new simulation
• load simulation
• tasks
• connection
• settings
• Wiki and
• information

If not, start a new simulation and find in the head menu the item "information" and in its scroll down menu the item "contents". There you will find the pdf timetable.

To get a driver on the loco you open the window "movement orders" and use the right mouse button to let pop up a menu. Choose "show trains without personnel". Then right mouse button click on the train and in the pop-up menu choose "send personnel to the train"

The train now pops up in the train list window showing "waiting". Now you can create movement orders.

I don't know if I've always taken the right expressions because I only can see the German ones but it should be something similar to what I've written.

Thanks for your reply Helmut. You have understood the English expressions well, much better than my understanding of German, although 'Google Translate' does help me!

1. Under 'Information ('Help' in English) I can see the timetable PDF but as I posted earlier in this thread that must be the original default timetable supplied with the sim, as it does not contain trains 64238 or 64239 which run in the 1996 Rheingold timetable.

2. I have unstaffed trains visible already in the Train Overview window but when I right click on Kof322 I do not get 'Send personnel to train' in the pop-up box.

1. You can create a Timetable PDF yourself. Helmut posted a link to the procedure on how to do this in post #4 of this topic.

2. The "movement order" window, not the "train overview" window, is the place to be. Believe the movement order needed is "Change driver" and select train driver or shunt driver, whatever you need. Ask your virtual assistent to handover the new orders.

Sorry, yes I was incorrectly right-clicking the train in the Train Overview window. That problem is now solved.

The timetable issue is still puzzling me though as I'm finding it difficult to follow Helmut's instructions. Clicking on the timetable pdf link in the 'Help' menu on the start screen (either by time or train number order) brings up a timetable pdf but it does not specify which timetable it is. It can't be the Rheingold 1996 timetable as trains 64238 and 64239 are not listed in it. I am using that custom timetable ( at least I have the 'use custom timetable' box checked and I have the Rheingold 1996 timetable selected in the timetable window below it) and the date when I started the sim is 14 August 1996. I don't know what else to do.

I am sure that the PDF accompanied with the simulation is not the latest.

Reason is pretty simple. As the Rheingold timetables (1996 and 2012 version) applies to quite some simulations, it is/was quite some work for the "chief of timetable" to keep all the PDF's per sim and per timetable up-to-date (2 timetables x 3 languages x 2 types of PDF (sorted by) = 12 PDF's per sim

Fortunately the user has the possibility to generated such timetable PDF on his own.

You need to activate the Dev mode for this first, see Wiki - Command Line Options by applying the "-x" option

That's basically mentioned in the referenced post by Helmut, but let me try to explain that procedure a bit more:

1a. Modify the shortcut icon for your simulation (typically on the Desktop) --> click right on the shortcut icon, and from the popup select Properties

1b. In the text entry "Target" you have to add at the end " -x" (space minus, x). (i.e. --> "C:\...\Remagen.exe" -x).

2a. If you now start the program, you will see a new item in the menu bar on top called "developer".

2b. Start the simulation, being sure you have the correct timetable activated i.e. a custom timetable

2c. Go to the Developer menu-item and search for the Print timetable.

You will get several options, like language and sorting type (train number/ arrival/departure and 3rd one I cant remember at the moment)

If remember well, the "arrival/departure" gives a wrong sorting. Is has to do with the fact that the rheingold timetable applies to more then one sim. If my memory is correct then for time sorted PDF you need option #3

Of course, you will need a so-called "PDF printer" to be able to print to PDF. PDFCreator is available for free, but there are more.

So before "printing" make sure you have selected this PDF printer as Default printer.

Hope this helps

By the way, I already suggested to the Dev Team to unhide this Printing option, so make it a standard menu-item, but no changes to date.

It's taken me 3 years (!) to get around to it, but after following the advice posted above I've managed to print the timetables I'm using, instead of the original timetables supplied with the sims. Many thanks for your help.
