up to 1200 trains per day! ???

The description of the simulation on the Shop page refers to up to 1,200 trains per day.

Does this refer to a specific day and/or setting or the upper limit on what the timetable component of the simulation can handle?

If it refers to the latter then I think the description in the shop is misleading.

Hi Andrew,

the original timetable (pdf) consists of 101 pages with 5/6 trains per page. Actually, that means about 550 trains per day.

Much more trains are possible, if you play this simulation in connection with Wuppertal-Vohwinkel. The dispatcher could send all trains heading for Solingen/Cologne via Düsseldorf-Gerresheim. I only can guess but maybe it's additional 300 - 400 trains. And in future, when Düsseldorf Hbf will be released again up to 300 - 400 trains out of that direction, if the dispatcher sends all possible trains on a detour via KDGE.

So maybe all this results in the amount of 1200 trains per day.

Thanks - I'm not sure where I got the lower number of pages from so I have edited my post as not to confuse the issue.

Rationale makes sense, although I do think the Shop gives the impression there might be more trains.

I suppose it is a tricky one as the timetable is accurate, but this does mean you don't appear to get much in the way of Freight trains on the single lines. I might need to splash out on Mathilde.

If you play this simulation without the detour option it is quite easy to handle. Of course there is a line crossing in the station of KDGE but only a few trains are using the single track from and to Wuppertal-Vohwinkel (KWV). And freight trains you get only 5 or 6 per day in the lower part of the panel.

I'll try it with the deviation.

I thought I'd try it as it looked quite interesting with a few freight single lines only to find not much freight traffic.

Just trying to get a balance between the bigger manic simulations but something not too quiet with nothing to do but sit back and watch.

In this case I would recommend Koblenz-Lützel.

I would recommend Heidelberg

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look into them both.

Koblenz-Lutzel and Heidelberg are two of my favourites when I want enough to do keep me occupied but not too much to do that I can't listen to the football on the radio on a Saturday afternoon. Hurth-Kalscheuren is another, with just enough traffic but you have to watch your regulating at the junction and there are two level crossings to keep an eye on, because they are wide and if you leave it late setting a route the barriers seem to take forever to come down.

Regards,

Phil.
